is that why people who have AWD launch from a dead stop instead of revving up like most other cars.

No, that is because they are gay.

All the serious AWD launches rev up like everyone else... you gently pre-load the drivetrain by barely slipping the clutch against a line-lock, and when you take off you try to "slip the clutch forever" in 1st. Second gear/synchro ends up munched at some point, but it leaves you with a buildable core.

According to what i researched awhile back this is the facts
You can buy a skyline from overseas and have it shipped over
Customs will keep it in a storage bin until you have it full registered or proof, and charge you for storage, cuase they cant just say "we trust you"
It has to go through emissions as well as stupid ---- like checking the auto glass and what fourth,.
If it is for show events, you are only allowed to put so many miles on it. and return it to customs bins
Now i have herd of some people going this route with is somewhat illegal or bending the rules, where they pull the engine or driveline and send the engine and or driveline in one bin and the rest of the car in another so everything is considered PARTS and not a car. All in All its not worth it, They are relaseing skylines in US in 2007 anyway. You can pay a shitload to get one over here and legal, but its not worth it

AWD is the best all-around solution. RWD is the best solution if you're building a drag-only car.

I think the gentleman with the ti-ite rollin' 5.0 knows better.

FYI, it has been proven a stick axles handles better than IRS, and it also hooks better from a dig. It's all in the setup.

i used to want one, this site has them for cheap.
i still want one, but after reading all the import laws, i knew it was a way outta my price range right now.

skylines are the only JDM cars that have crash tests on file, so those are the only ones you can import, but you have to give the govment a deposit of 120% of the cars cost, which you get back after you have an authorized dealer convert to LHD. thats bunk ----.

oh ya, i e-mailed them back in the day- $900 shipped to your choice of 10 US sea ports.
i like to drool

Well, yes, a purpose built rwd car racing on dry tarmac with unregulated tires works great. AWD is the only way to make a car that is both really quick off the line and around corners, and can even do that with harsh tire regulations. AWD just works over a wider range of conditions.
A rwd car with a good drag racing setup can't corner because of the tall soft tires and soft suspension required to get weight transfer onto the rear.
A rwd car with a good cornering setup can't cut a good 60ft because it has minimal weight transfer onto the rear and smaller contact patches per tire.
Formula 1 cars for example can't use full power until they're over 100mph because of the downforce needed.

Baldur, most AWD cars are FWD with the rear drivetrain thrown in as an afterthought. Those cars are in no way superior to RWD biased cars except for rally, as Johnny said, or on ice.
