Any air conditioning experts in here?

It's ------- hot out now and my AC sucks ass. :7

Vehicle: 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I put a half can of 134a in it and it did NOTHING. The air is cold, but not as cold as it should be. The compressor stays running and seems to be operating smooth. I was thinking maybe the valve on the heater lines might be leaking hot water into the core which would be causing this, but apparently these Jeeps don't have that valve and hot water is always flowing through the heater core. I checked to see if vent for the recirc/fresh air was working and it is.

What else could it be? ???

Hahahha hell leather and spring time in wisconsin gave me some leg burnage getting in the galant today. Yowzers. Get one of those ultraviolet leak kits to see where your leaking...cause I'd say mostly likely it is.

What is your high side and low side pressures?

What is ambient air temp.?

What is output temp. from the vents?

Need those 4 answers before you can go any further.

Must be tested with vehicle at 35 mph for proper airflow over the condensor.

Did you watch the sight glass while adding more R134a?

Did you even check the site glass for bubbles before adding the extra refrigerant?????

While your at it, stick the vacuum line from the motor to the brake booster into a gallon of water. You know what that will do to a motor, you can do the same thing to your AC compressor. It's been 20 years since I took my schooling for HVAC, but the basics are simple with any refirgerant. I don't have the pressure/temp graphs for R-134a, but used to the the charts for R-12 and R-22 by heart.

yea just check if theres any bubbles on the little glass window thingy when you turn on the AC. it gives u basic idea of the freeon level.

check the flap between the heater and a/c sides of the airbox. if the foam seal is trashed its gonna let hot air into the a/c side.

not technically an acceptable way of checking freon anymore, although it works just fine ;)

does it get cold for a bit and then hot? if it just never gets cold, i wouldnt think that the heater core is the problem, since it takes a bit for the coolant to get warmed up. normally the symptoms are cold air, then about 20mins later, the temp starts rising. although i never rule something out until i know for sure.

is your condenser plugged up? fins all bent to ----? what about the evaporator? rats nest arent uncommon, and cause your a/c to work like ----
