I think Stealthmodes point is that just because he has / had such a good reputation does not mean that he could not do things the government alledges.

My fault. I thought you were insinuating that he is being held unjustly because, given his reputation, he could not commit a crime against this country. I admit I only read about 2/3rd's of the article though.
