I'd just go with the ACL, they're probably much cheaper. The Race bearings are probably larger tolerances. I'll say it this way... Sloppy stuff makes Power! Go with the OEM if you don't want to tear her down for a little while ;)

WEAK SAUCE MAN!! Why build a motor if your not going to do it right ? Honda engines have some of the tightest clearences for a reason. if you go and just "get some barings" Your engine will not last long. especially if your boosting it. Fook is right, better do it the hard way so you dont have to do it twice.

hondas run tight clearences so they will last 300,000 miles

Sounds like quite a motor for 333 hp. You can do that with no problem with stock motor. With the rod and piston combo you're doing 450+ shouldn't be a problem.

Im not gonna get into the oem vs aftermarket debate but on my buddy's rebuild we plastigauged all the clearences when he installed his aftermarket barings and they came in well with in spec.. just to throw that out there

fyi: youre pistons will most likely have floating pins, not press-fit

Fook, good attempt. It seems no matter how many times this color code thing is explained, the noobs never learn until they want to know.

If you can make a complete write up on how to do the color code ----, I'll put it up on my site and archive it. It's info I would love to have up there so I don't have to read about it anymore. I'll work something out with you on a gift certificate or something. Lemme know. ;)

fyi: all acl's are the size of honda greens, and i wanna say the race version of acl bearings are lacking some sort of coating that the regular bearings get.

the race bearings are for race motors, ones that get torn down and rebuilt quite often. just go with oem.

actually I was reading on honda tech that the top coat that gives the reg acl bearings their color is actually weak and not very good.
I'm making my decision to go with the ACL races based on this thread:
