Re: 2JZ into 83 or 84 toyota cressida?
it will bolt to the transmission bellhousing with a very smile adapter plate. it is not an absolute direct swap, youll need mounts.
plus why do that. it costs an assload of money and you're stuck with a torqueless, powerbandless wonder.
do a 1uz-fe 2uz-fe hybrid or 3uz-fe v8 turbo swap.
or a 3.4L 5vz-fe swap with a turbo or two.

Not really a hard swap im just starting on a 2JZ into a S13 240.The wiring is simple you only need about ten wires to get a 2JZ running on the stock ecu and twins which is good for 400-450whp.You can run the Toy auto that comes with the JDM swap and with a couple simple mods will hold 400-450whp.Your other option is a 1JZ bellhousing and a 7MGTE 5spd [R154] along with a 7MGTE clutch and 1JZ flywheel.I paid $1800 for a complete 2JZ with a auto tranny, harness and ecu.Go buy one and the mounts are easy to make then just some wires.I watched a black Cressida with a 1JZ running a large single get kicked off the track at Mission this year it was 600+whp and that ------- thing moves

nice lol!
5m/6m-gte hybrid yay! lol!
seriously tho JZ block engines are mother ------- idiotic as swap engines. for the same money you can double the horsepower with several other Toyota engines/families as just buying a JZ block and getting it to run. triple it on afew...

the average price just for a complete 2jz-gte is around $2500, and they've been getting more expencive.
For that money I can buy a 4.0L 1uz-fe and turbo it for more horsepower and have both a signifigantly broader powerband, AND a faster revving engine than a 2jz can possibly make without tacking on another grand+ in a new turbo.
Or for the cost of actually building a 2jz-gte to be a real 900bhp+ engine instead of a dyno queen 900bhp, you can build the UZ's to 1500-2000.
If JZ's were so good, they'd be considered for aircraft use, they'd be used in poewrboat racing, and there wouldn't be afew people here and their successfully ditching them for the v8 and v12 toy engines.
horsepower per dollar, and overall horsepower, youd rather have the v8s.
and meh, all the transmissions still ------- suck. If you want more than afew hundred wheel horsepower better put aside another 2 grand for that.
Which goes back to the other engines on the list... All of the toy v6's will mate too any of the transmissions in the short list of heavy duty FWD, or RWD transmissions and trash the transmission before the engine. So why spend $2500+ on an overrated piece of poor economy, low revving, slow revving hype machine known as a JZ block, when for less than a grand you can buy another engine that'll trash whatever transmission you rate it too and just be better.

Just buy a 2JZGE for $500, then go NA-T and enjoy high compression and boost for cheap. It also really doesn't matter when you blow it the ---- up doing panty rippers, you're only out $500 for a new motor :P
