true. www.club4ag.com is a good place to start, but i think the site is down for "maintenance" currently. Read up guy. I am in the process of making a ae92 corolla (same engine) "go fast". I am currently piecing together a cheap turbo set up. These engines are by no fricking means boost friendly, but hay, how many na engines are? A smarter move on my part would have been to swap in a big port 4age 16v, 4agze forged pistons and rods and boost from there and have a much safer and better platform, but i am a cheap mofo. A low boost 4afe will perform just as well if not better as a silver top or black top 20v swapped corolla which only puts down about 125-135whp. So if you want my opinion fi is the way to go. Or you can always just run a small shot of nitrous like 50 or 65 shot, you can even build your homemade nitrous kit out of house hold stuff if you dont wanna spend 500 bucks for 50hp. www.nitrous.info . Which ever way you choose. Read up first before you buy anything.

Not as fast as a turbo 4A-FE. Trust me. I know. Then again, the turbo 4A-FE ate like 2-3 auto transmissions.

Just grab a smallish turbo and get a log manifold together. If your engine is relatively fresh, then they can take just under 15psi before you send a rod through the block. Given that the car is currently 13 years old at best, I would stay well under 10 unless you're going to rebuild.

and even if you blow your 4afe, they are dirt cheap, as cheap as a d16. The only prob i see here is gettin the ecu chipped to run turbo edit or something. Anyone ever done it before? I wil pm xenon to find out if he can .

sweet ill probly end up boosting my corrola auto since there is so many spare engines at pick n pull .. ! oh any body know if wat mt tranny will fit the corrola motor 4afe? stock motor i think its the code for it corect me if im wrong..
anyways i will want to do a manule swap in it since someone said its gonna eat the tranny plust its a 3 speed and the turbos power add wont make a big enough diffrenc in acceleration if its gonna be a 3 spd cuz i have a dx hatch turbod adn the dx gearing suck ass so i would want short gearing on the rolla to make it go fast.. let me know wat you know about the tranny swap and interchanges thanks

Re: 1994 corolla 1.6l can it go fast?

I think all the "a" series engines came with interchangerable trannies, i.e t50 etc. My buddy has a jdm 16v engine and tranny in his garage so i am gonna be using that, i will chec the exact code later. What set up are you running on your turbo hatch ?
