Depends..

If you just want 160-170hp as your end goal, refreshing and slapping a turbo on the D is a good idea. The only thing you might risk here is the life of your engine. If you are just going to throw in a B16, you will get some power, and it will last damn near forever if you take care of it. You will save money on turboin the D, but you risk making it go kaboom. If you swap the B its power to stay, and a better platform to work on.

Your choice.

That really depends on who you talk to..... I've heard it's all in the tune, if a Turbo D is done right and taken care of it can last just as long as NA

agreed, ive know a guy with an a6 and 15 psi from a t3 with no problems and its been almost two years its all in the tune there are some people blowin built B's with 8 psi get a good tune on your ---- and if your goals are 180 whp thats around 8psi on a midsize turbo no reason you cant keep it realiable
