Lets go for a record. oh and MR_DR_PEP your a funny guy!!! Does anybody know how much hp you can get out of a sohc vtec engine with stock internal running boost? If you could estimate in hp to the wheels that would be good?

Basically, a stock D16Z6 won't have that same pissed growl a B18C1 or C5 will have at the vtec crossover point. It's there, just not a obvious. That's because as far as cam profiles go, the D16 isn't nearly as agressive in the high cam as a B18 or B16 is.

oh well that sucks. I really like the sound of his car. so back on the topic. How much hp at the wheels do you think i can get on stock internals running boost on a sohc vtec?

somewhere around 170 to 190 im guessing at 8spi i think...im not for sure..

i have a sohc vtec and what he said is true the intake side is almost identical but that's what I meant by not "true" vtec. in my oppinion the only true vtec is variable valve timing all the way around. he has more than 8 valves but only 8 of the valves have variable timing. if i could design an engine it would have individual hydraulic actuators to lift each valve independently that were computer controlled and no cams at all. there would be no parasitic loss from have to turn a cam shaft!!!

Don't we all want that motor? :-) I think Cadillac is putting it in a new Northstar V8 for 2004. Let see if the ol' hatch could handle that! Rear engine V8, twin turbos, infinitely variable valve timing and lift, and NO MORE TIMING BELT TO CHANGE!!! HAHAHAHA!!!! (insert manical mad scientist laugh here)

caddilac is coming out with a brand new car that has 64 valves, 4 turbos and 4 cams. It goes 0 - 187 in 14 seconds and tops out at 255 mph

I have a 1991 CRX Si. I got the car just to drive back and forth to work. I slammed it and I'm getting compliments and the girls are breaking their neck when I drive by. I am really starting to like my cheap car. I want to turbo charge it really cheap and have it last a long time. I really love the way a blow off valve sounds too. Can I turbo charge it using 1 psi of boost? Would that last on a healthy Si that has 205,000 miles on it? I plan on going to a junkyard and getting all the parts i need if it will last. Thanks :P

Keehnel1414 what's wrong with you?
Aren't you seeing that the other guys are talking about a stock bottom?
You want to rebuilde the engine right?
So go with the best engine go with the B18 if you are going to put 4K in it.
Almost all of the other guys are talking about non build engines...and I can say those won't last very long with high boost. If you rebuild the B18 engine it will have well over 300 hp if you get a good turbo for it....I would get a big T3/T4 hybrid.
By the way the B18 has better oiling than the D-series and what else..it is just a better engine and more displacement...you can cram more air and fuel in it.
with build internals the B18 will last long and Honda bearings are one of the best OEM bearings out there.
Give it good tuning and you won't blow it up
