It will hold up fine.
You said you was gonna spend 2 g's on the engine? and an extra 2 g's for the turbo setup?
Well if the 2 g's for the engine is for forged rod's and forged FI pistons/rings and new bearings and maybe resleeved or posted it will hold up pretty long if you tune the fuel management right, just don't lean out. go with a good management system ... with that budget you can get the zydyne.
With forged internals you will reach your goal...even surpass it.
Maintannce is the key...and if you have money left..i would get e more efficient radiator to cool things down.

With a supposed budget of 4K, there's no reason why you can't build a serious, reliable, turbo B18B.

It really depends on how you drive the car -> as already mentioned a non-boosted factory car was not meant to be boosted and won't last as long as an engine forged to handle it. Thats just a simple fact, but Hondas can withstand the rising engine temperatures very well... it just depends on how you're maintaining the engine... mine lasted about 8,000 miles before I flattened a bearing but I wasn't paying attention to detonation and kept putting it off to fix it. Well its stupid things like this that will cause your motor to go out!

Just keep in mind that a turbo produces more heat, and more pressure than the factory intake does. There are ways to reduce the heat, ie, intercooled or water injection. But the pressure is still a problem, but if you keep your engine timing retarded you should be okay to get around the pressure without causing serious damage.

Just keep your ear out for pinging/knocking, and an eye on the thermostat

Besides hp will the sohc vtec be as good or better than the b18b to boost?

b18 rods are a little beefier than sohc rods. so a b18 will handle boost a little better than a sohc. A sohc vtec isnt real vtec however. It is an imposed vtec or mechanical cam retard rather than dohc vtec. A sohc vtec motor is no more than a sohc vtec motor in exception to a little boost of cam retard at 5500 rpm. Ideally you would rather a b18b over a sohc of any kid for reasons of being able to adjust intake valves seperate from exhaust (overlap). This gives you basically more tunability. But I say if your car has a sohc, then turbo the **** out of it, if it blows then it gives you a reason to put a b18 in it. If you already have a b18 then turbo it anyway!!!!

these are my choices as to what engine i want to get, a B18b or a SOHC vtec and boost. I have never boosted before so i was thinking about boosting a Sohc vtec and then see how that goes and then maybe later swap in a B18b and boost that. If i bye a zydyne unit will it work with the b18b and the Sohc Vtec? Also i Didn't Know That The Sohc Vtec Was Not True Vtec. I can get a Sohc Vtec off of hmotorsonline for 500 dollars.

my friend once ran a 90 dx ecu to run his b18c5. It didn't run it very well and his vtec didn't turn on untill he got a type r ecu but it ran. If you bought a zdyne for a obd1 sohc vtec motor I don't see why it couldn't run a obd1 dohc non vtec b18b as well since you can custom tune all your fuel maps, and spark curves i don't see any problem but I would ask zdyne anyway. There are other options other than zdyne. You need to know which engine exactly you are going to be tuning. Just remember the higher the obd number the less and less anybody will want to make a standalone management system for it. I am cursed with obd2 and I have found efi systems(efisystems.com) they make obd2 stuff. But anyway, as long as your in the same obd range I don't see why you couldn't change motors and retain the same managment..
