Who in their right mind would even consider replacing damaged rings with the same caliber again ? You're only asking for the same problems to occur again.
I debated the pros & cons of an engine swap before electing to strengthen the original block. I'm going w/ forged low compression pistons & rings with a head gasket that is rated for 15 lbs of boost. I'm not mechanically inclined, so the engine swap option was costing just as much. |

You might not hear any noises before the rods go, I have gone through 2 of them, so trust me. The first time I heard really really really bad knocking for like 5 seconds than a snap, took it to a shop and the number 2 rod i believe, had broken straight into 2. The second time was without warning and just bent a rod, that was due to some diferent ignition timing problems though. Just be careful if you going to up the boost, and be smart about it.
