i'm turning up the boost in my 98' type r integra to 8 psi w/a intank fuel pump, stock injectors & 12:1 fmu. will i hear pinging noises first before it blows or will it just blow up? i'm running 7 psi now w/o a prob so let me knizo fo shizo!

poor type-r at least AFC/Injector it for us so you dont break our hearts FMU'ing a B18c5. If you paid that muc hfor the car at least do the turbo somewhat right. but you'll prolly just notice yourself running lean at times with the fmu as its not as reliable with the boost levels as a afc or a stand a lone would be.

I think with a better fuel managment system would be more reliable. Think about it, you have no lower compression pistons stock (I think its high 10's or low 11's compression). Get an VAFC with some injectors and an hour at the local DYNO, and tune it. With the injectors and tunning, you could probably run 9 or 10 psi. And you know what that means- high compression + more boost + tunning= one fast *** car

smc ++ 450's
afc + 450's
do one they are cheap and keep your motor from going kaboom. also ur boosting a b18c5.. lookout the compression is high i wouldnt push 10 without tuned hondata..

A friend of mine boosted his Type R with an FMU and intank pump and he didn't hear anything at all. But he melted his #4 piston. And that was with 7psi. Please don't do it. Do what everybody's been telling you. Do a VAFC and injectors or something.

Please don't make the mistake that I did. Being my first turbo, I blew 1 or more piston rings w/ 9.5 lbs of boost on the original D16Z6 in my DelSol. Due to lack of proper fuel Mgt. I'm currently waiting for the shop to open my block. Down here in S. Fl most shops want $2K for the labor for a major rebuild. i.e. replacing pistons, rings & head gasket.
The mistake is costing me more than 3X what it would cost for a high end Fuel Mgt. system.
The labor on rebuilding an engine can cost more than the parts.
