Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
Read what I said, if you have to worry about a little boost spike for a short period then your setup is ----. i have read what you said (the 1st time) now its your turn, read what i said i have a 4spd and thats why i care about boost in 1st gear, as far as my set up i dont even use full boost (on the street) cuz im going way faster than other cars (so i dont use all my boost). i havnt said ---- to you so why must you talk ---- about my car? |
Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
Sorry, I was posting off topic really, commenting on what somebody said about spiking in first gear.

Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
2 things... either there is a boost leak or just not enough load in first. i think its normal... the most i can build in first is 5-6lbs and then as soon as i shift to 2nd it shoots up to 10lbs and then i smile... ;D
the previous posts about building boost at idle... i don't understand it either b/c there is a guy around here who drives a gsx eclipes and he'll sit there and rev up his motor like 20 times and let the BOV blow each time... not that i would be doing that but when i rev it up at idle i just get a little tiny whistle. i dunno... just an observation... maybe this dude has one of those cool ebay BOV noise maker things... oh wait... an idea just sprung... what if i put a microphone next to my DSM bov and turn up my stock stereo!? :P maybe not... damn, its friday and i don't have ---- to do... :( |
Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
I peak 1-2psi in first...not enough load ;)

Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
ok thanks for all the input guys ;D

Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
i used to hit 6-7 psi in my 91 teg with a b16 with a rev hard kit in 1st gear (only boosted at 8) i dunno, but as they said, it's most likely the lack of load
|
Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
The reason could be that because
his got a bigger turbo and smaller displacment the engine cant take in all the boost being produced so he can build up a lot more psi. in yours its the opposite youve got a smaller turbo and bigger displacment so your engine just takes a lot more from your turbo.or it could be because of no load or both. |
Re:why cant i boost in 1st gear?
it has nothing to do with load, or the program used, or managmenet, or any of that ----.
it breaks down into a few things 1) boost leaks 2) RPM, and the postition of the throttle plate put a rev limiter in your car and open it wide open at like 5-6k and you'll get your full boost sitting in one spot. crazy huh? |
