Crank Girdle. That's what your rod shoot through.

What do you mean should have fixed the oil pump/pick-up? What was up with it? I've heard Y8 oil pumps aren't that great, but good enough for the average HMT build. Never really a good idea to have the Y8 oil pump in a built motor is what I've always 'heard'.

What exactly happened? I'm still confused on how you detonated your motor and that rod blowing out caused the holes in the oil pan. That oil pan isn't weak and didn't fail on its own. Don't be silly.

I don't see any scorch marks on the crank journal.

That's better, looks like the rod or rod bolt just gave up on you. ARP FTW!

I can see the piston sitting at the top of the cylinder. The rod is just missing.

I was thinking that too. Get the crank checked out, maybe you can sell that ----. As suggested, the rod bolts probably let loose. Looks like it just flung everything from the crank like ---- off a big fan blade.

I have a z6 crank that is FAR FAR worse than that y8. #2 is black, crispy, and generally gouged to hell (was humping the rod stump & chunks left in there), and all three others look like they were overheated and about to spin too. The girl I bought the car (and therefor, motor) from said her bf took it up to 9500. Apparently he thought it wasn't just an ordinary neglected d16 that badly needed an oil change. The funny thing was I found half a rod bolt melted to the splash gaurd 6 months later...

Whats sad is its harder to find a non-neglected d16 than it is to find a junked one, at least outside cali.

You would see scorch makes on the journal if that's what happened. Besides, the #1 rod is what gave, if it were an oil shortage the other 3 rods would at least be discolored if not black.

the rod snapped at the wristpin. You can see it at the top of the cylinder. The cap must have come off from such free spinning...
