additional ways of helping reduce the chances of detonation are to intercool, and run cooler plugs.
(some might even say to use water injection)

 

It's audible so you can hear it, or can get a knock sensor, chewed up plugs.

what do you mean get a knock sensor? you just by one then wire it in? if so how?

 

I havn't installed a knock sensor, but I'm looking into buying one for my own car before I install the turbo. From what i know the sensor screws into one of the threaded engine plugs and you wire up the monitor box from the sensor. Simple as that.

 

That's how some of the ones I have seen are set up. Others are done by tapping the block and installing a sensor.

Either way, the ones I have looked up are pretty expensive.

 

I have a 97 civic EX which is equipped with a knock sensor, but I am running a 95 civic EX ecuu which is not euipped with a knock sensor in the years of 92-95. How would I wire one in?
