Exactly, this is how my girlfriends h22 is setup, stock intake manifold with the signal line to the butterflys taking off. You should play around with cross over, set it high and set it low and see how much the map changes. 450's are going to be big enough for 300whp too.

Right now we have cross over low around 4200, normally on B-series we have it set high around 5800-6000.

Hmmm... Jeff does the engine respond much differently power wise with the butterflies closed in the lower rpms? I have mine disabled right now, im wondering if itd be worth hooking them back up and having them open sooner (like 3500 ish)?

hrrrrmmmmmm, did you try it with higher cross over settings? maybe that has soemthing to do with it, the lowest we set it was 5200.

higher cross over on an h22 really doesnt do much. it just kicks in really hard. my buddy with an h22 in his hatch had his tuned by the guy that tunes ericks racing's allmotor drag coupe set his changeover at i believe 4500. it was just a whole lot smoother than any other setting. he netted 195 with an intake, header, full catback and some cams. but pretty much stock otherwise. you should just disable the IAB's and play with the vtec changover. im sure thats the problem

Well i found my IAB black box and the IAB solinoid.. it was in the bottom of my tool box. so the IAB plunger was not hooked up at all... does that mean they were open? or closed?
