Default Well guys I think this is how its gonna come together.

Ive been asking questions lately about the t04e turbos and getting ready to purchase a silver secu and whatnot. This was going to be for a b18a that i was also going to buy eagle rods and je pistons for. Well, as you guys know this is not cheap and when you finally sit down, make a complete list and leave room for unexpected expenses its a lot more than you originially had in mind. At least thats how I operate, (a DYI mech for 3 years, im 19)

Originally I wanted to purchase a b16a1 longblock for it and have a machine shop press out the pins on the pr3 pistons. Id put them on the ls rods. This way I could up the compression and make a nice lsvtec. I tried ordering from several locations and got a little discouradged when things werent going quite right and decided, bah im running out of time to make a good frankenstein setup.

So the solution for my b18a was going to be buying some pistons and rods for 600, the silver secu for 500, and the turbo hardware for 1000. Then I started to realize the junkyard setup I was planning really was junk, and if I was going to do this I was going to do it right the first time and not buy trashed components and have joeredneck weld me charge pipes. I was also leaving out important things in the price like a bov, intercooler, larger injectors, a new pump etc.....when I put all this together now the turbo was costing me a shitload more than the lsvtec.

So today I fixed the problem, I ordered a b16a1 complete x-over. This will be going in the crx in mint shape with all necessary parts replaced.......making it a nice clean swap. The b18a and J1 tranny will be set aside,i will have placed the b18 on the engine stand and it will become the "out of car turbo project" for me to work on later.

This works because the b16 swap makes things cheaper and easier to swap in my currently tight time schedule, and I still get the nice feeling of VTEC with 160 ponies. In the CRX this is enough to keep me happy. The b18a will get built for boost the right way........over time and with lots of money...its sad but true.

So anyways, just wanted to say my piece, and let those who knew what I was doing to some degree like jeff now know my new orientation on the turbo project.

Hrmm 21 views no replys, lol.

Anyways if any of you guys are in dire need of a b18a longblock with complete manifolds, distributor and all....make me an offer. I also have a j1 tranny. If its gonna sit might as well go to someone who might want it currently.

Sounds like a pretty good plan you have going on there. Good luck with the project, and definately keep us posted on how it is going

By the way, probably the reason for no replies, is that you didn't ask a question, so there isn't anything to reply to... heh. Oh, one other thing... where are you located? Knowing that may help find a buyer for your engine a bit faster.

Hey, that kinda sounds like what I want to do, but I am cheap so it will be with d series. I hope to find a 88-91 hatch or crx for around $1500, then do a d16z6 swap, and piece together a turbo onto the original motor. I think (could be wrong) that it will bold onto the z6 when Im done. Plus, no down time.
