Default welding turbo

can i use a welder with the electrode sticks to weld aluminium on the air filter side of the turbo to mild steel piping for the air filter .. and can i also weld my turbo {cast iron} to mild steel for my exaust? would i need a special rod or can i just use the normal ones

Preheat the cast and use some type of nickel rod. I forget exactly, sorry. Search some.

there are ways to weld aluminum to steel. the new miata's use it. i have no idea how it works, or what method they use.



but anyways, you cant do it with a stick welder no way no how. if you use some high nickle rods you can weld the cast to mild, but you have to preheat the cast first to avoid cracking it.

if the temp on the turbo doesnt get too hot, you can braze it with copper/bronze

ok well i dont care about the aluminium im going to make an adapter so wat if i get these rods that say cast iron and they are black will that work without torching it

like they said..high nickel content..preheat your cast ..and let it cool very slowly..like in some sand or something
