Re:Water Injection - THE FACTS!

I'm going to be installing a WRX intercooler here soon... 10 psi should be fine to take advantage of this.

The real gains are seen though when your air temperatures are insanely hot (from high boost applications) so yes, the hotter you're running to the point of injection means more potential for the water injection to make a difference.

But really what you're doing is cooling down the intake air to some degree (you will want to put your nozzle further down the intake pipe then I did), and the methanol just allows a more pure burn in the engine. Of course running more boost means hotter conditions, so yes I can see where they're talking about that.

I'm running 10 psi daily, spiking to 11s... using the AFC hack... no detonation under full throttle (timing is still fully retarded).
However I have very minor pinging in lo-throttle/lo rpm ranges. This is why I feel an intercooler is necessary since my water doesn't spray till 5 psi, when I'm daily driving that air is getting to hot and the computer is advancing the timing to much for normal.

WOW, this is some neat stuff. I may have to take on this project :)

Damn that is one messy ass engine bay! I'm glad I have a simple Toyota!

I guess I don't see how its so messy, yeah there are wires floating around for now (until I can get those multiwire packs)...
ANd I really piety the poor sap who ever has to do any sort of work on this car electronics wise, none of the colors are coded right HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Prob. under $40 at a junkyard or something.

Can you comment on the longevity of the F-150 pump when exposed to water... as in the duration and frequency of use over what period of time/miles?

You should be able to get an F-150 fuel pump for less than $40, IMO, it's an unwanted 95 lph crap pump barely capable of fuelling a low revving truck 302. Only about a million F-150s in the yard, rotting away.

what kind of flow do you realy need for water injection?... i've got a few spare EFI fuel pumps sitting around.. may have to test em for flow and such :)

I'd recommend at least 100 psi so that when the water hits a nozzle at the size of .5mm it will be sprayed ina fine mist.

generally, from what i've read, the flow you need to inject is about 20-25% the total volume of fuel being injected. any fuel pump would be capable of more than enough flow. only trouble is, i believe fuel pumps are about as tolerant of water as fuel injectors. chacko, keep us (and yourself) updated on the condition of the pump. seems like something you wouldn't want to fail at full boost..

Re:Water Injection - THE FACTS!

thats the flow from the injector itself...
The pump has to be at least 100 psi.
