wastegate adjustment
I have a 93 del sol with a 15g turbo and external wastegate. I was told it had a minimum of like 5 psi. But, a friend of mine turned it down to just vaccum. How did he do this? I have been messin with the wastegate for like 3 hours now! I try turning the nut closest to the actuator.. then further.. i iether get the same boost.. or more boost... how did my friend turn it down to o?
Also.. when the lever is puled is that opening or closing the wastegate?

your friend didnt turn it down lower than the gate is preset to. The wastegate has a minium to open at. Unless he took the actuator arm off.
How about explain what you want to do?
just leave it at 5 psi and use a boost controller to add more.

I want to be able so set it to 0.. then use the EBC to adjust the boost.. i live in az and i overheat very easily under boost in the summer. He never took the arm off though.. just adjusted the screw thing.. making the arm longer or shorter.. its not working for me..
also.. is the wastegate open or closed when the arm is closes?

No, you cant set up the gate like that. setting it at 0 and increasing it. basically lengthing/shorting the wastegate arm will increase or decrease boost, when you lengthen it, it should lower boost. (thus opening the wastegate flapper partially) When you lengthen the rod the car should get slower than ----, because it wont spool nearly as fast. I dont know what your buddy did to make it go to 0psi, maybe the arm got jammed open or something. But if you want it to work right you need to set it back to the normal setting and get a boost controller to adjust it.
overheating? I dont care if you live in the desert, honda engines are easy to control heat, even with a turbo.
