Default T3 Turbo Wastegate spring adjustment

Hey.. so im plannin out my turbo kit n most of it's all planned.. but i have a question for all you smart *** people out there that know a little more than me...

So i was gonna get a ct26 (wastegate set at 5psi i think..)turbo from an old school supra or mr2 or alltrac celica.. but then i found a less expensive alternative in a T3... after looking at them for a while i realized that the wastegate actuator was set at like 8psi.. correct me if im wrong.... but i plan to only run about 6.....(stock internals =])... so yeah.. what can i do to run 6 psi?? i know u can increase boost by getting a manual boost controller.. but how do you decrease im guessing get a new wastegate actuator... or tear that one apart.. and adjust it.. but what do you think my easiest option is??im also tryin to stay away from bending the wastegate actuator at all.. i've heard of some people doing that to decrease boost.. also.. if u think or know of a diff turbo that would fit my need better than let me know. I have a 5sfe engine in my celica, and am bolting up a 3sgte exhaust manifold... i know the T3 fits... and the ct26.. (that's what comes on a 3sgte engine) but i dont know of any else... im tryin to stay away from modifying the flange or making a new one.. so any suggestions would be of help.. thanks... beau or any other HMT Crew.. your imput would also be great.. thanks bros..

Lata

No you cant alter an internal wastegate. You can lengthen the arm but that will GREATLY increase lag. Bending it usually increases boost.
Go with the T3. But what size is it? They are the most common and easist to use.
Not all CT26 turbos are the same. The Celicas and MR2s where Greatly different then the Supras when it came to exhuast housings.
I would suggest running 8psi. 5-6 is hardly worth it. I did for 2 days and said SCREW IT. Or just find any wastedate. Doesn't have to be t3 and run it. I have a t3 5.5psi wastegate on my 14b and I'm using a mbc to bring it up to 11psi.

I'm also woundering if there is a way to put some type of valve in the line to the waste gate to up the boost by not allowing as much air flow threw the line, is this possible, i have a test stand to test what psi it will open at mine is a T3 Garret with a internal wastegate set at 7psi

First off.. responding to Shox... i've heard from some people that u can set your bov to have a constant bleed to run lower boost.. even if your wastegate is set to lets say 10psi, because of the bleed you are running 8ish.... that's just what i've heard.. so dont call me on that one..

Second off for BUMBLEZC... thx for the feedback.. So there is a t3 turbo with a 5.5 wastegate? Umm i dont have the turbo yet just looking.. and glad im researching it a bunch so i dont ---- up and buy with with a 15psi wastegate or something.. =]. But no i dont know the size of the turbo.. is that like the trim n stuf?? i dont know much about that.. if u could explain what they are sized on that'd be tite.. oh yeah...and do u know if all t3 turbos will all bolt up to the same exhaust manifold? And do u think i can run 8 on stock internals safely?? i dont like meltdowns

If u could send me a link to a T3 turbo with a 5.5 wastegate that'd be great too... thx.. lata

Oh yeah.. your doin 11 psi?? obviously prolly using a aftermarket clutch.. whats modded in the block??

Block is stock. Nothing done to it. Yes I have a better clutch. The got it from Mike (LSD Motorsports).

A bunch of t3's ran 5-5psi-6psi Wastegate. To be exact, mine is from a early 80's Nissan 300zx. I bought the turbo, turn out it was shot, so I tossed the WG on my 14b.
Most if not all T3s run the same exhaust flange. There is the odd one like a Buick GN turbo, and possible the Chrysdler Shelby turbos that are different. Almost all Volvo, Saabs, fords, yada yada run the same flange.

8 psi will be fine if your running good managemnt with a good basemap. I was there for 8+ months till I got bored and went to 11psi. Many guys have ran 12psi and maybe some more. BUT you have to know what your doing!

Also, what motor is this on? That is going to determine the best "Starter Turbo". I would suggest the smallest t3 if your starting out. A .42/.48 should be good to run, and will be able to handle a slightly higher output when you get the hang of things

Oh ya, and to the Bleed off the BOV. It will work, but would be VERY unpredictable and har dto get set right.

If you're not familliar with that engine.. its a 2.2 DOHC (toyota) btw.. how much boost u think it could withstand on stock internals?

Ahh, My buddy was doind alot of research into boosting one of those. Management was his biggest thing.

As for how muc boost, I'm unsure. Have you ever checked out Celispeed.com or something like that. There is a lot of good website supporting that project. Try searching at those to see how much boost it cn handle. BUT be sure to come back to HMT. This should be your home.

Also I can't remeber his screen name, but he has a boosted Celi on here.
