well a good buddy of mine tunes cars for a little cash here and their but he awsome at it...and yes im having a basemap burned and basic street tuning done the same day its on the street...after about 1000miles on the engine uim going to try to get some real power out of it..i plan on only running about 5psi until the engine gets broken in..after its broken in i want to push the engine until i hit 400hp thats my goal ..but it may be able to surpass my goal by the looks of it and if it gets tuned properly...i also have access to free race gas ..i might throw a little race gas at it after i get it tuned good

Keep the timing down! It's the only thing that will help with the d-series head lifting/sleeve shifting issues.

im also going to ARP the head along with the rest of the motor but yes with it reving that high im going to check the motor every few hundred miles during the break in process make sure everything is breaking in properly..re tourqing the head keep my eye on coolant levels and oil level also i'll be changing to oil every few hundred miles also...and im breaking the engine in without using synthetic oil to keep from from scoring anything because of the viscosity of synthetic is way less than standard oil....depending on what weight oil i use...anyway yes im dedicating most of my time on tuning and and building the engine making sure its done right nothing is going to be halfassed....i know its HMT but i just want to see what a SOHC D-series can do i like these engines alot and have way more potential then people think and parts are half the price of B-series

---- the few hundred miles, tune it right on first startup, then put maybe 20 miles on it and boost the ---- out of it!

Hard break in.

Hell yeah, I did that,...excpet for boost, I just didn't finish my kit until about ~500miles on the motor. Hard break-in all the way!

Dino oil for break in, you want the viscosity so it sticks to the parts, then change it after your "hard break in", about 20 miles or so, along with the filter. Those new parts are going to bed in and some shavings will result. Dino encapsulates particles better, too. Then you can go to your gay synthetic, but i'll leave that debate to the virgin engine fanboyz. The key to oil is just to find the cheapest stuff and change it often, Synthetic makes you lazy and with the blowby you'll have in a 400 whp d it'll be dino oil soon enough anyway.
