Default Using parts from 89 STarion/conquest...

I have a 98 civic dx that is in bad need of boost. My previous car was an 02 Si with K24a2 so the dx motor isnt really happening.... My question is what parts can I use off of my 89 Starion? When I parked it there was 88k miles on the odometer so I think everything should be ok to use.... If I remember right it has a BOV already so I guess my question is if its a good car to get a turbo off of? I'm new to non N/A and also new to budget power. My current situation does not allow me to just do a $$$$ motor swap. So any help with my question would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I read the noob sticky, just thought this was a more specific situation..... thanks

I'm no Honda guy (Saturds are my thing ) but I would think the inter cooler would be good to use. Depending on what you want, the turbo may be a little small. At RELETIVELY high flow rates (not very high) that little thing sould be way out of its efficiency range and well on its way to being a better air heater than power adder. I don't know how similar diffarent size Mitsu terbos are, but you may be able to use the turbo to mock up your setup while you look for a more realistic turbo.

Why did you park the Starion? If it is in decent shape you may be better off hat rodding that and keeping your Civic as a reliable daily driver. No matter what you want to do, you will end up spending WAY more turboing your Civic than you think. It happens to the best of us. We budget $500, then spend $1500. 20 trips to Vato-zone, 30 trips to Home Depot....it adds up quick. Then, after you finnally get it running, you go and blow it up. CHING! Add another $1000 and a week of down time.

I parked the Starion because at the time I wanted a daily driver not a DSM that required work constantly. Also with its great weight, I would probably end up spending way more money on it than I would on anything else. I dont mind spending $1000 - $1500 to achieve 180whp. My last car was 185whp and it cost me a little over $6k. I'm just hoping to do this as cheaply as possible to see what I can achieve. Also I can get a dx motor for $500 or less so if the motor does blow.... I don't know... its not that big of a concern to me....I was just hoping that I would be able to use the parts from the starion.....

Sorry man, but the Starion is just too damn pimp to park...Those cars are heavy but they're RWD + turbocharged 4 banger = badass...Plus it's an older car with waaaay more personality and ALOT more unique...How many strong running, clean body, Starion/Conquest's do you see running around?? The company I got my manifold from, Autoboost, also makes cast iron turbo manifolds for that platform that allow you to bolt up a T3 flanged turbo and an external wastegate...Wish I had the money, I'd buy that bitch from ya....

they also use a motor known for cracking.... So if I was going to use it to boost at extreme levels I would have to build the motor switch out for larger turbo etc Basically the same things I would have to do if I wanted a fast ek..... Its just not financially possible for me. I crashed my ep while driving under the influence so what I can afford is an ek....I just dont like the EK's power......Like I said, was just hoping to save some money. I was looking at the for sale section here and notice a lot of d-series turbo "kits" for around 400 so maybe I should start with something like that rather than try to save money using the starion.....I will be happy with anything that nets me 160-180 at the wheel that doesnt require a swap. I'm on a DUI budget....
