I know this may be an odd question but here's my confusion.

twin turbo is the same as running the turbo's parallel correct? On a v-8 or v-6 one turbo is fed from each side of the engine and the compressor charge pipe meets at or before the intercooler/throttlebody. and on an inline 6 or an oddball with a 4cylinder twin turbo would be running 2 turbos off the same exhaust manifold and then running the charge pipes together like on a v engine.

The question is: is the exhaust manifold routed with all the runners meeting at the collector and then split off to the 2 different turbo exhaust housings?


sequential turbos run off the same exhaust manifold and 1 is larger than the other so that the small one spools quick and the big one gives alot of boost. and both compressor outlets meet up the same way a twin turbo does.

lastly, compound is running the compressor outlet of one turbo into the compressor inlet of the next turbo and then the outlet of the 2nd turbo is run to the i/c.

Thanks for the help, all the pics I have seen of any of these types of systems has only shown the charge side and not the exhaust side.

depends on manifold design

are you high? of course. exhaust ports are an essential part of the turbo setup.

My guess is a MKIV Supra.

the 3rd one has the turbos staged (compressor outlet of one goes into the compressor inlet of the 2nd) looks like some kind of turbodiesal too

 

The compound is the new way for turbo diesel trucks, some apparently pump out up to 100 psi of boost. California emmisions standards are the leaders in forcing tighter emission standards for trucks.
