Twin Turbo Question.

Twin Turbo Question.
I know it might sound stupid, but is it possible to do a twin turbo setup, with one smaller turbo actuating a second Larger turbo? Has anyone ever done this, seen it done, just curious about this sort of setup. Logically it would allow a small engine to be sporting a freaking huge turbo!

Re: Twin Turbo Question.
Saw a Dodge Charger at SEMA this year with twin turbos and a supercharger. Wasn't completed yet so I don't know how it's going to perform but same concept. Supercharger should provide low end boost torque and twin turbo's for the high end power.

Re: Twin Turbo Question.
Looked like they had big plans for it but it wasn't finished yet. The turbos fed a FMIC and which exited the top. It didn't have the tube from the top of the FMIC to the supercharger intakes you see. Dunno but it looked cool.

Re: Twin Turbo Question.
ehh the supercharger will limit peak power but ill give you torque off the line, a straight up twin turbo would be less complex and ultimatley faster at the cost of a little driveability and low end power

Re: Twin Turbo Question.
heres a non gay idea from bmws diesel department.
comes with none of the downsides of supra/rx7/subaru TT setups, and works seamlessly. only thing is, might be trickyish to home engineer due to the flap on the outlet of the larger one. still, could definitely be done!

Re: Twin Turbo Question.
I believe hes talking about a compound turbo... ATS makes them for turbo diesels.

Compound turbo not Twin turbo...
