Turbo's installed again, *ENGINE FUCKED UP AGAIN*
So my kit's done again. Everything beautiful. Tyrus intercooler, SMC controller DSM 450's, the works. I finished this morning, and went for a drive. It was so nice and fast and wonderful, then I caught a faint whiff of oil. The whiff turned into streaming smoke from the tailpipe and crankcase breather, so I went to my friend's house, did a compression test. My comp is somehting like 150-150-100-150, so now I'm sittin' here with a shitty #3 piston and awesome turbo kit. Isn't it ironic? Anyways, I was just bitching cause now I have to tear the engine down and replace that piston next weekend.
Do you guys think it'll be allright for me to drive until then? I'm so pissed.

Damn, I don't know how you guys do it. I beat the ---- out of my car on a daily basis. It has been overheating for the last 4 months. I hit 11 psi every stop light I hit and this thing runs like a champ. *knocks on wood*
I guess it's just dumb luck?

hey doctor boost, how many miles were on your motor when you put your turbo on.... and how was it taken care of..... i mean your a moderator so you know your ----....but how come i hear a lot of horror stories but you say it's luck??
That sucks man I'm sorry to hear about that. When my kit is finished I'm known to have the same dumb luck so I might be in the same boat.
guido has a good point I mean if this is the second time I'd look into that timing. If yours isnt distributorless like my stupid car then maybe just retard it a little bit. Predetonation can kill pistons in no time flat

Yeah, that sucks Rolla, i've been waitin' for a turbo comeback from ya too. How is the turbo? Could the seals in the turbo be bad and thats what's dumping oil? I mean, the compression ratio does seem a bit off in that cylinder, so it could be that also.

For sure, I'll post some pics later of the turbo install and piping and intercooler and all that.
I did retard the timing at the distributer by 10 degrees, a little more than the SMC instructions said, so I don't think that was it.
Well, this kit is so good that it's staying on, and as soon as I locate and order new (stronger) pistons, the head and oil pan are coming off, and I'm installing them with the engine in the car. How's 8.5:1 compression sound?
Now all I really really wanna do is make my engine bomb proof so I can run some serious power without worrying about stupid ---- like this.
