I just installed a new manifold and turbo, and have a turbonetics evolution wastegate on it. I have the 5 lb spring in the wastegate (which is the lowest rated sping it comes with) and it is boosting to 12 psi. There is no spiking, it just boosts 12psi. Any ideas as to why this might be happening? The wastegate comes out from the collector, so I dont think its a lack of flow...

 

What color spring is it? Maybe they accidentally shipped the wrong one.

 

its a blue one. Supposedly a 5 psi spring

 

What gauge are you using to tell you that it's hitting 12? If it's an autometer, it probably is only hitting 5psi...autometer gauges are junk.

 

its a zeitronix wideband unit with the boost sensor connection.

 

Ok, so your gauge is fine then. How good is your pressure source for the wastegate? Is it off the compressor housing or off the manifold? It could just be that they sent you the wrong spring
