turbo without charge pipes?
hey guys, i recently bought a turbo and before i spend a while bunch of time and money installing it (and possibly finding out that it has leaky seals, doest work, etc) can i throw it on my motor. im saying can i put just the turbo, manifold, and d-pipe on my car but have no pipes running anywhere other than a filter on the intake housing. it would work wouldnt it? it would just spool and blow air out of the exhaust housing into the engine bay right?

Let's say your turbo is a hair dryer and normally it runs with your hand over the end, blocking the air. Now if you let your hand off, it revs alot higher because there is nothing to stop the air(motor, throttle body). The hair dryer was designed to only spin as much as it would if your hand was over the end of it. Think of it as over revving your motor. Your motor wasn't built for 12,000rpm, so would it be a good idea to rev to 12,000rpm?

Yea id just wait till u got ur set up ready.. you can usually have a decent idea from visual inspection if its gonna be a piece of $H/T. However i have run my car with blown charge pipes and i think i may have fucked up my turbo by doing that.. ---- started smoking the next day.. Oh wait then again.. That was my Ringlands loving boost.. Sorry
