Default turbo spin ??

lookin for a little help !! i have just finshed getting my turbo (T3), down pipe, coolant, and oil lines in. I go to start the
car up to see the turbo spin and its not spining !! i have the WG closed and i still have no spin. but if i spin it by hand it
spins. its does feel like it has a little bit of a load on it but nothing i think would be a problem. and the turbo has no end 2 end play or side 2 side play. i haven't taken her out for a ride yet but could this from the turbo sitting for a long time??
any help would be great !!! thanks mike

mine spins at idle, but its a TINY teo4h, its so weak of a spin though that I can stick my finger into it and it stops. Its normal for a decent sized turbo to not spin at all on our tiny displacement engines.

Brand new turbos spin at idle , older / smaller turbos generally don't spin at idle.

Does the turbo spin when you rev up the engine? If its a brand new turbo and it has no end to end or side to side play it may not be broken in yet. Almost all T3s use an oil film sleeve bearing, if oil pressure isn't high enough its not going to spin well or last very long. You want lots of cool clean oil flowing to your T3 .
