turbo not spinning at idel??
ok got everything finally together 
and started the car and the turbo spun but when the rpms fell down to about 600 the turbo quit spinning but at about 1200 rpm and up the turbo spins fine. is this normal? does the d16 just not make enough exhaust to sping the 14b at idle?

That's prefectly normal. A turbo has to spool (hence turbo lag), and it takes a certain amount of exhaust pressure to do it. That's why if you hook up a vacuum/pressure gauge, it still reads vacuum at idle, and below a certain rpm

Ummm...every turbo I have ever had spun the wheel at idle.

I had this same problem when I first installed the turbo. At first everything was fine. But then the idle was messing up really bad and the turbo stopped. If I restarted the car, the idle was decent, but the turbo still wouldn't move unless I gave it gas.
I happened to have a different turbo to try, and at first it did the same thing! But it only did it once, the turbo is fine now at idle, even though it's still extremely low. My friend was saying maybe the bearings were bad on my last one...I really don't know, when I took it out it I was messing with it, and it was spinning freely.

I don't think it really matters, mine spins nice and slow at idle. I keep gettnig tempted to stick my finger and and see if i can stop it :P

mine also stops at idle......or spins rather slowly either or....been wondering about that. anyways i too wanna stick my finger in there and see if i can hold the wheel still...hahaha stupid idea i know but its curiosity.
