Default turbo ls auto

all right after tons of research on this site and others ive decided to boost my AUTOMATIC ls..

i have access to tons of parts for free, and very cheap turbo selection...

ive narrowed it down to either a t25, or t3....... reason i liket these two turbos is they spool up fast..... now i know they fall out after 6500rpm but guess what, my auto redlines at 6 so im not worried about it. just lookin to make a fun everyday driver not a hp machine

im leanin more towards the t3 off of a saab due to the fact i can buy a log manifold and not have to use an adapter plate..... bmcrace makes one for my engine for 170 bucks.

anyone elses thoughts on this...... or know of a better turbo for my specific application

I kinda had the same goals, a nice hefty daily driver. I think a T3 would be simple enough thats what I got, you can get yourself a cheap manifold to bolt up and whatnot. I dont like giving out my exact expenses but it was under 3000 for sure

Your weakpoint is the transmission, remember that.. get a tranny cooler to help out a tiny bit. But don't expect your tranny to hold up if you throw a good bit of boost at her. Your engine can take quite a beating but your tranny cannot.

What size T3 were you looking for? 60/63 would probably be ideal for your goals, but thats just my opinion.

yea tranny cooler is in the plans. i also have two spare ones lol. luckily theres not a huge market for auto ls' trannys.... no high boost, im not even expecting 200hp, if i get there thats nice, im just goin to build a cheap fun hmt setup. ive already got free fmic, charge pipes and lots of other stuff. all my buddys run boosted cars so parts are plentyfull

as for the t3 ive only got as much selection as the saabs here at teh junkyard lol i would go t25 route do to i heard it spools up almost instantly (im not worried about traction as i stated im not lookin to drag race) but then id have to pay for an adapter plate.

60/63 trim huh....... ill have to see wich year model car comes close to that trim and start callin around.
