Default 95 D16Z6 Auto turbo project

Hi, I got this feeling to add some umph! to my car since its lacking it. I know its an auto but was my only choice of car, can't change the tranny and don't want to sell it due to its reliability and I'm stationed overseas . I'm not going for crazy power. Just real good midrange and some top end. I plan on boosting 6-7 psi.

Now the junkyard on base I can get stuff cheap. Basically off of one car the turbo, bov, i/c and any other stuff connected to the turbo for $35.

Already grabbed a turbo off Saab 900/0 w/o an intercooler

Now working on rest of the parts. Variety of carscome and go in the yard but there hasn't been a turbo car for a while except for this citrogen but it was a bitch to get at the turbo. I want to retain my AC. To hot in the summer and sometimes smalls bad outside.

Would it be wise of me to buy one of those kits in the ads section or continue on? Only trouble I have for right now would be getting the manifold, adapter plate, downpipe and maybe the charge pipes. Planning on using a AFC for fuel management since I'll be over for 4 more years.

For fuel injectors got some old skool supras in the yard and also a prelude I think. I/C might be able to find something. Oh1 Read somewhere I could use the fuel pump from mustang. Is this true? Theres a 89 mustang lx in the yard now.

I'm about to do my 90K tune up. Changing the timing belt, water pump, fluids maybe the cam gear also. Accessory belts just a bit after words and ignition. Going to add an oil cooler and catch can. Tranny cooler, do I need to tap into the tranny or is there already hoses for this. I definately know I need to do this. My tranny is already acting weird and plan on getting a new one. Might add a stronger TQ while I'm at it. I've read a lot of info here and other various sites and forums but just need to ask to be sure.

I'm not doing this right away. Maybe in the summer time. Trying to get all the parts first. Welcome any advice except about changing tranny or I can't since its an auto. I know and don't care. :P

Thanks
Ronin

Well first off, if you want to keep AC, you are going to have to get a custom built manifold, or a known one that supports AC, with your t3 turbo. The HF/STD manifold WILL NOT work.

Can you use the mustang fuel pump, yes you can, they flow about 125lph, which is pretty good, I dont think its a "BOLT IN SWAP" but just like any intank pump, their is always a bit of hacking that has to take place. Jeff @ turbocrx.net did this I think...

For the tranny cooler, it should already have 2 lines going to the radiator for cooling, just tap into those for your external cooler.

good luck
Jeff
