Default tuning question

I've been researching how to turbo my motor on a budget, and i've decided to run 7-8psi on my stock JDM B18C. With maybe a block guard, and most likely a 2-3mm head gasket. From what i understand this is totally possible, but everyone keeps saying tuning is the key? I plan on doing most of this work myself, but how would i "tune" the motor, is dyno time necessary? basically i'd like to know what you guys are using to ensure that your motor is getting the right mixture of air and fuel, and the timing and what not....thanks for your help.

also any suggestions on what my setup should be...i want to keep A/C, and i don't have a lot of cash, so what mani and turbo....tia

ok first off do not use a blockgaurd they are pieces of ----. and could ruin your nice b18c.

u can boost 10psi fine on that and even 15 at the track.

i would suggest gettting hondata or AEM EMS for the fuel.

dont skimp when u have an expensive motor.

i dont' think i'd run 10psi on a regular basis. since i posted this i've been doing hella research, and i'm thinking of doing the afc hack and running 7.5-8 psi...i probably wouldn't turn up the boost any past that. i'd also probably want to get it dyno tuned with the afc hack just to fine tune it some. ( if i can afford it)

i've been reading as much as i can on the afc hack + dsm450's it seems to be a great way to turbo any honda. i definitely don't have the money for the AEM EMS...hondata or any of that stuff, the only reason i had money for the swap is b/c i sold my old car (z2 for 6.5k, and bought a $2,000 hatchback...now i'm just back to being a poor college student with a part time job.
