Thanks for the tip. AND the fact though that you have to clear the frame and what not. I just saw this when I was taking off the ears today. David, Josh, got any measurements on how long (low really) your pipe sits from the bottom most bolts? I have the ears I made on there now and I scrap preeeetty easy so I was curious how low your set-ups droop. It almost seems like I really CAN'T go much higher. Ugh, these babies are pretty low. LOL.

I looked on the car Josh and saw what you meant by the bushing bolts. I can see I'll just bolt it to one of the two and you're saying the OUTER most one (towards the wheel) correct? Thank you!!!

Off to Lowe's tomorrow for the other set of Heim Joints. :P

I know my overall all "Ears" or End Plated. are cut to 7" long. That's not from the bolts, but the whole plate. Again I have jigs a templates that I work off of now so don't really rememer those type of measurements of the top of my head.

I should stop giving out Company secrets!!

I just finished making my first one last week. I was going to do the heim joint/rod combo for my 89 hatch, but I can't seem to find any place that carrys those threaded rods or anything similar to use. I just ended up making it so I can still use my stock radius rods, and since the car is lowered 1.5" I also changed the angle that the rods now sit at so the suspension doesn't bind like it used to. Radius rods combined with poly bushings actually worked pretty well, so far no wheel hop and no problems yet. Also made it out or 3/16" steel, so I doubt it'll break apart either and it's heavily braced at the highest load points. I only wanted more room for my turbo though, all the rest was pretty much an added bonus I also have the advantage of adjustable caster if I really want to mess with it, although it's not as easy to change as your guy's bars

Off to Grainger's tomorrow morning because no one around here has those. So I guess I'll rock those with the ones I got from work. Are your bars on an angle back or straight down? They appear to be leaning back like the holes are drilled on an off set to set the bar back towards the motor.

I'll check the length tomorrow, but I think it's close to 7". All I know is I have those 2 ears on there now and I bent them both a little because they hang a little low and I forgot. :1 Thanks again, fellas.

EDIT: Grainger's is closed today and they're only open Monday-Friday 70-5:00. No chance I can make that due to work. I'll figure something out.

Getting closer and I was curious on the triangle brackets welded to the cross 1 1/4" pipe: How far from the end to I weld them? Do I weld it on the lower or upper or center of the bar? Thanks!

I got my brackets made and I broke the nuts off on the inside of the frame from all the pounding and scraping the long old ones did. So Dad and I got it off and I made shorter (7") 1/4" thick brackets. I need to drill the holes on the other side and run just a long 4" bolt and nut combonation on it then. Measure it up and get the pipe cut then I STILL need to get 2 more rod ends. Is there ANY other way I can do the trailing arms with only 2 rod ends (Heim Joints)? Thanks for everyone's help (and trade secrets ) !!!

Quick update, I got my boss to finish welding my cross bar and I have to order to Heim Joints tomorrow due to Grainger's lack there of. I'll take pics and post up what I have already. I have noticed a difference in my set-up being that the leafs, ears, whatever off the cross-tube are closer to the ends than yours are. More direct to LCA rather than angled.

Dave, where'd you get those fancy radius rods? I'm planning on making a 4 link and a lateral rod for the 86 compared to the 300ish for a 4 link a 150 for lateral and their basically the same things.

I think that I messed up. Tell me if you think that my leafs are too far in and won't allow correct suspension travel.

Damn Speedwaymotors.com is pretty cheap for alot of there stuff like the radius rod tubing and the heim joints. I know where I'm going to make my 4 link and lateral rod and may even make some other stuff since susp stuff is pricey for the corolla.
