I dont have a dp really. My exhaust is bolted directly to my turbo and goes all the way back to my muffler. Only thing in line is the flex pipe.
Im going to make a 3 inch turndown directly off the exhaust housing to the floor.

I was always under the impression that an open DP required a different tune to it.

Re: Track times. Shitty.
those are respectable times for sure, but a lil strange...your 60ft time this time around was a little slower, but your 330ft and 1/8 mile times were a lil quicker...BUT THEN your 1000ft and 1/4 mile times were both slower...I believe it's just traction issues, maybe there are lil differences in suspension geometry and weight transfer between the sedan and the hatch that are causing the differences in your times...they're not REALLY that big of a difference anyway, 9 hundredths of a sec....

Yes a new tune is required when you run an open downpipe.
But the car was tuned with an open downpipe.
I only have a full exhaust now because the motor is in a different shell and the downpipe didnt fit.
The times are respectable yes. But thats not what my point is.
Im dropping probably 3-400 lbs in weight going from 97 sedan to 90 hatch and my times are nearly identical.
I was expecting to go from a 13.3 in a sedan to a 12.9 in the hatch.

Re: Track times. Shitty.
I get 12.7 et with 107 traps..... But I get NO wheelspin.... So I am giving your higher ets the wheelspin guilt. And if you can work on your suspension to get rid of that lift and drop weight transfer, I bet that will help.

Thanks for the info.
Im on just normal street tires.
I still think even with the added wheelspin from the lighter car it should STILL trap higher than the motor did in my 4 door.
Goal is 12's on street tires.

don't forget the GENERAL rule of thumb. 100lbs for every tenth of a second. Considering that the hatch is 300lbs lighter, the best time u coulda hoped for is 3 tenths of a second better than u did in the sedan. Another thing to consider is that lighter doesn't always translate to better times, the way civic's are made you'd be surprised where the weight actually ends up. Most of the weight in my car(99 4 door) for instance transfers to the front wheels aside from the engine weight of course. And weight can help traction(sand bags in the back of trucks as an example). My understanding of it all is having a good balance and tuning engine and suspension and weight together for a great harmony of destruction. :-P
Which reminds me, what's up with these fools talkin about how much heavier a sedan is than the hatch's and how they'd spank us. These are the first jackasses I wanna destroy once I finish my build.
