Default Track times. Shitty.

Went to the track last night.
Didnt go too great. But not totally pissed.
Setup is Holset H1c with 2.5 inch dp and 2.5 inch full exhaust.
D15 bottom end with Y7 head. All stock other than arp's.
9 psi.
I ran last night in my 90 std hatchback. Gutted other than door panels. No heater core, blower motor, nothing. Nothing behind the dash other than the cluster.

The motor was tuned when it was in my 97 Ex sedan. Interior gutted. Still had front door panels and full dash. Still a pig im sure. Car was tuned with a side exit exhaust out of the front bumper(very short). But I wrecked it. Thats when the STD came along. Only thing Ive changed from the Sedan to hatch is now it has the full exhaust, and minor changes in charge piping.

Heres how I ran last night. ---Heres my best elapsed time in the Sedan.
60 ft 2.162----------------------2.137
330 ft 5.813----------------------5.826
1/8th 8.750----------------------8.768
mph 84.60----------------------84.16
1000ft 11.280--------------------11.271
1/4 13.4201--------------------13.337
mph 105.09---------------------106.31
Best mph 105.98 ---Best mph in sedan was 107.39

Now I know the hatch must be at LEAST 300 lbs lighter. Whats going on ?

Only real restriction Ive added is the full exhaust. Is that enough to make this happen ? I also havent checked my base timing since I did take my dizzy off once or twice. But I doubt its off more than 1 or 2 deg. Compression should still be good since the motor hasnt run much since I wrecked the sedan.

Any ideas would be cool.

Ha, dude I wouldn't complain those are REALLY solid times. I'd like to say that that open DP MAY just be the key factor in the top end for that car. Try a cut out maybe.

exactly!! get a cut out or just unhook your exhaust next time and see what that does for you..

Thanks.

I know the exhaust is killing me, but I still thought id be faster cuz of how much lighter it is.

Going to the track in a couple weeks with just a turndown off my exhaust housing. Hoping for a 12.9.

Thanks for the good words.

It says 2.5 inch dp and exhaust.

On another note. I didnt mention that I had a lot of wheelspin as soon as I got in 2nd gear. One long tire screamer till 3rd. I know I lost some time there. Car feels torquey with the full exhaust, but I know its choking it up top.

definatly if your spiing wheels your not going anywhere but you just need to get a better burnout in and unhook you exhaust from your DP next time you go and you'll see an improvement..

Slip to second son. Banging gears and smashing the gas like a monkey worked NON-turbo, but you have a little more power now. Slip.

When I lift throttle shift it spins more because of the back and forthweight transfer. Im not worried about the 2nd gear spin much. Its expected. I was just listing it for info.

I dont have a dp really. My exhaust is bolted directly to my turbo and goes all the way back to my muffler. Only thing in line is the flex pipe.
Im going to make a 3 inch turndown directly off the exhaust housing to the floor.
