Default tial wastegate on hf manifold

just thought id share a pic of a tial wastegate on my boys hf manifold...

had to go with an external wastegate as the internal one on his t3 had a 12lb spring in it...

You went through the trouble and expensive of the new Tial and you are still using an HF mani? Sounds like a waste to me. Nice fitment though.

looks good man. I have one on mine too.

Does he have any problems with it not wanting to hold boost? With mine no matter how far it seems i keep turning the boost controller up it will spike up to that amount of boost, but then quickly drop back to 8-9psi. I'm thinking that maybe its the location of the wastegate on the manifold. Before with the internal gate i had it holding 10psi all the way through, but it sucked because the actuator was all screwed up and it took me until 5k rpms just to hit full boost. Now i hit full boost at like 3k rpms

My question is, why would you go through the trouble of hacking up the HF manifold, when you can just use a 14B or T3 downpipe flange, port the wastegate hole in the exhaust housing and put the wastegate there?

whats the difference porting the o2 hole in the hf and porting the wastegate hole in the turbine housing plus the exhaust housing flange?

Welding Steel to cast is fun....

And then you now need a new O2 bung....

throw an o2 bung on the exaust in the downpipe, it doesnt need to be in the manifold itself. The only things i think about this is that it will work but the wastegate positioning is shitty, and it probably would control boost better if it was in a better location

i dont see anything wrong with it being right there. the inline pro manifold's put their wastegate right there
