Got it all together and back in.....go to start it and it's pumping out mad amounts of smoke from the VC and PCV. Pull the dipstick and it smokes starts to puff out baaaaaaaaad. Tried to drive it and just giving it gas and backing it up it has NO power almost on the floor to rev it to back up and then as you do that smoke floods out of every place.

What is wrong? I'm so screwed right now.....

Cam out of time by 180*?!?!?! could that be possible?

When transporting the motor, was it tipped at all? Is it over-filled with oil? any CELs?

If she's been flipped over, or is a pile of blown-by ----, she can smoke profusely. If she stops smoking after a few minutes of operation then it was just flipped over.

No. The crank turns twice for every cam rotation, so logically if you turn the cam halfway over then the crank has turned once. Same difference, there is no "cam 180 out". You CAN, however, get the distributor 180 out which will cause IM backfires and stuff and things.

So did you get it figured out? Sorry to hear about the problems, hopefully you get em worked out. Tis the season I guess, my transmission sounds like someone threw a bag of marbles in it.

Motor was layed on it's side, but what does that matter? Majority of the time it spent right side up. The way that thing puffed and had NO power and chugged it was pretty much a cracked sleeve. Pulled the motor and cylinder #3's exhaust port looked wet, not dry so I'm saying that one had a cracked sleeve somewhere low in it.

I picked up a complete Y8 motor from a 2000 and the intake mani is pretty different so we're waiting to get another IM gasket tomorrow for it and then start putting this one in. Has 68K miles on it so I'm praying this one is in decent shape for us. Don't ask what I paid either, I'm in a TIGHT TIGHT spot right now and so if anyone wants some turbo goods like a new 57 trim with <500miles (same Craig sells) come get it for 540 shipped.

This new motor was hauled on its side/upright, why is that bad?
