Default Testing External Wastegate (again)

I know there's an FAQ about this, but the pics don't work and the explanation doesn't make sense to me...

https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...;threadid=3361

I guess what I'm not getting is the comment "put it in the WG hole, bottom one." Is that the wastegate hole on the end of the turbo where the flapper and downpipe would go, or is it the nipple on the wastegate actuator, of which I only have one opening and it's for vacuum?

The way I'm thinking it should go, is that I would hook up a gauge and a hose to the wastegate actuator and once it starts to move (with pressure), is what my PSI would be... Is that right?

yes hook air up to the bottom port, with an air gauge. use a regulator on your air compressor to bring air pressure down to like 10psi.

adjust regulator to see when WG starts moving and when its FULLY open..

bottom nipple, not the top. the top is for a MBC.

i think the point where the wastegate starts to open is the psi level that the wastegate is set at.
say it starts to open at 10 psi, if you try to add more boost it will cause the wastegate to open larger, thus preventing any boost past 10psi.
wastegates are very sensitive and once you get the slightest of leaks it will sustain the boost pressure.

I tried it with my fuel pressure regulator and some fittings straight into the wastegate actuator nipple. I used a bike pump and it's really hard to tell wtf was going on. If I was reading it right, it opens at 4 or 5 PSI... If you keep pumping, it keeps opening more and more and more...

I bought it separate from my turbo, so that's why I don't know what the PSI is, but then I totally hacked the arm and the brackets to get it to fit and I've been really worried that it may have inadvertatly raised the PSI, but I'm just gonna have to stick with the 4 or 5 from today and find out for real when I do the final install...

Thanks for the help guys!
