Default Temp of a turbo motor

I am just curious to see whether or not it is normal for your temp gauge to go up in open throttle in like 4th gear or so on. I guess my question is, is it ok for your temp gauge to rise past normal operating temp. In 4th or 5th gear if i open it up for awhile the temp rises...doesnt go into red?

It deffinetly shouldnt be doing that it will run hotter but should be nowhere near the red and if it is bigger radiator and cooler thermostat should fix it

That really doesn't make sense, usually when you are in those higher gears, your car is going fast. When the car is going fast, more air circulation is happening around the motor. Sounds like a more complicated problem to me. Please give more details so we can see what's up.

Well the problem is hes staying in boost for too long im guessing keeping the revs up for to long in the upper gears which results in high boost for longer than ideal periods of time.

Damn, that completely throws off my air cooling theory. Didn't think that he was flooring it thru the higher gears, taking the speeds to the max. See I was thinking of the 4-60 style of airconditioning (4 windows down, 60mph).

So you figure he's not stomping it in the under gears.. or just not as long?

it could also be that he is running lean and the temps are rising acording to the air/fuel ration. Just a thought. 98ctr
