I was going to say something witty, but the quote above is more than enough satisfaction for me. Have a nice day.

That late hit of boost is a rush, but sometimes you'll end up with a faster ET with more area under the curve.

Totally agree. Sometimes it just isn't matched up right. I'm more about the late hit and highway fun than all out drag racing. However, you make a good point.

Question about the oil FEED....if I have the Stevemode standard (old style -4an if I recall, 2 years old so has to be -4an) which is 1/8 NPT how is that going to work with the 12 X 1.5 flare tip fitting I need?

for the record, a t04b s trim does dwarf a 60/63 t3. the t3 doesnt flow 36 lbs, thats way off the map

heres the s trim, not a huge difference, but definitely flows a bit more

T04B = 37lbs/min

63/60 = 36lbs/min

Plans have changed, thanks for all the advice and help, but it looks as though I'll be getting another hybrid. Anyone care to suggest a trim and turbine size? I was thinking T3/T04E 57 trim with .48 housing.

Samson, what vehicle are you driving?
You can read a turbo map, so outside of riding in something similiar, might see if you can find dyno runs of similiar setups...

I've *read* that one huge inducer of lag is the physical size of that turbine as it's a lot of rotational mass... You can cramp the AR on the hot side (go smaller) but if you've got a big turbine that has a lot of rotational mass that's going to really be the primary variable in how fast it spools on a given motor.
That's the theory anyway... I don't have enough experience to confirm for sure.

I can tell you that the 60 trim t3 spools up so much faster (.63/.60AR) than the 55AR T04b that I've got on there now.
Biggest difference in the turbos? Tubine size:

Wooooooooo, that's a big wheel, haha. D-series 10psi like the rest of HMT pretty much and I CAN'T read a compressor map, ha. I need to learn though if I want to maximize my ability to buy a suitable turbo that will make me cheese.

I'm not too worried about lag and prefer it actually, but I definitly would like that hit on full boost. SC60-1 with a .48 housing perhaps? 60 trim T04E? I've never messed with knowing too much with trim sizes and all but thank God looks like I may have a choice this time around. :P

EDIT: So imageshack.us is a little different now I guess, and you all know when and with what camera that pic was taken with. Shoulda unchecked the "details" box...

i feel slightly rude, but compared to most of you, i know i'm not. i only read the first half of the first page. i saw this, and its mostly right. there was a post above it that said that its too big, i concur. hy35 is a 500hp turbo. at low boost its not that good. its efficient between 15 and 25psi on 2 - 2.5l engines that can turn 7 - 8krpm. thats why i chose it for my 2l (7.5k). a td05h 16g is a big turbo for a 1.6 engine. that or something similar will get you 350hp or so max.

i'd be interested to hear what recommendations there are for turbos about half way between the hy35 and td05h 16g. it seems there is a void there if not in cheap turbos, then at least in my knowledge of whats out there.
