Default T3 vs T3/T4

Alright this is definately a noob question... For a B16 is it better to use a T3 or a T3/T4... what are the advantages and disadvantages of using each, i.e. whats the boost for each and whats the max psi on each. I've seen both of them done and was just wondering...

Thanks

You can't turbo a B16. Psssh. Here's a better idea .... READ around the site before you ask questions. Everything that you have asked, in the above paragraph, has been answered at one point in time on here, therefor, it's on here. Look for it, don't just ask. - Matt

Yes, yes I know, I'm an -------, blah blah blah.

I'm sure I could have, but how would that have been fun? The T3 (.42/.4 won't give you the 'umph' upi would really want in the B16. On the other hand a 60-1 trim T3 would be nice, and enough for you all at once. A T3/T4 turbo is monstrous, but it too can be used on a B16, I have seen it before, but sometimes there are clearance problems with the huge bastard. As for the max poundage for each, I'm not sure, and I would be scared to say so. - Matt

Thanks for the help anyways... I was just hoping for a quick answer on this...

I'm sure I can use just about any freaken turbo out there to turbo a B16, i.e. TD05H, T25, T28, T3, T3/T4, but I was just curious to know why some applications would considering using a T3/T4 over just a straight T3. I know the T3/T4 is essentially a hybrid but whats the advantage of it over the T3 if some people are raving so much about the T3... But anyways, I guess I'll just keep looking...

I'm sure I'll find my answer somewhere...

t3/t4 = more air & more horsepower. smaller exhaust turbine and large comp tubine. tries to help out the lag problems on a small engine.
straight t3 = smaller compressor less air... maybe the same exahust housing?

to properly suit your turbo needs you have to realistically think what your HP goals are.

if you want to stay under 300 hp, daily driven, quick spool, i would go with a t3 super 60.

now if your goals are higher 300+ i would recommend going with a t3/t04e. (the housing on a to4e is a little better matched to a small displacement motor as apose to the t4)

hope that helped!

Thanks guys... that makes more sense with the T3 vs T3/T4

I'm only hoping to push a couple of pounds on stock internals. 8-9psi max! So well see...

Thanks
