Default T04E/T04B

Did either one of these come in any factory cars/trucks. I have a .48/.42 T3 right now, and the thought of converting it to a 57 trim T3/T4 sounds tempting.

diesel trucks use t04's and its going to cost you more to convert it than to just go out and buy a real t3/t4. Believe me I thought about it too

Can you be a little more specific when you say deisel trucks. I see conversion kits on Egay all the time going for like 150 whats that about.

I'm not a diesel truck expert so you'll need to do your research to find out the specifics. What the hell is included in a conversion kit? If you have a T3 right now that you want to convert that turbo probably was about $75.00 if you buy a To4 for the same price $75.00 your up to $150, the conversion kit you talk about is another $150 so now its $300 and if you ever change wheels on a turbo you'll need to get it spin balanced if you want it to last more than 500 miles so thats another $100. Your total is $400 for a used pieced together turbo This doesn't sound too economical but whatever its your money...

I though all it took was replacing the compressor housing, compressor wheel and that other thing that mates with the compressor housing. I didn't realize all that other ---- is needed

Just out of curiosity has anyone made their own T3/T4?

nope, you'll need to swap the turbine and compressor wheels. The housings are swappable on some of the comp/turbine wheels, the wheels have different diameters, and the housings are machined to accept the differences. So its a big job and not worth throwing money at it to try and probably fail.

I thought of the same thing and wanted to try it but this is what I found out

I just put a TO4E 57 trim kit on my T3...Got it used from a friend.
Some(most) T3's haven parts that are seperatly balanced.....the T4E comp conversion comes with a balanced wheel.
It was pretty easy to do.
My friend drove with it for almost a half year then he sold his turbokit ..... he put the T3 compressor back on to the T3 and sold me the T4E compressor.
