Super 60 or t3/t40e on b18a1 with stock valvetrain?
I had my heart set on getting a T3/t40E 60 trim .63 a/r housing on my engine that I am currently building up. After reading a few other threads I see some guys recommending the super 60. Since I am not doing anything to the valvetrain other then a valve grind i want to find a turbo that produces good power at lower rpms because this thing wont rev much past stock redline. This is going to be a daily driving car that i take to the track on weekends and even perhaps some auto x events (unsure about that yet)
I was hoping to get around 300 whp out of this thing.
What would you guys recommend?
Anyone running one of the two setups?
Here are my engine specs:
B18a1
9.2:1 srp pistons
eagle rods
str block guard
fully rebuilt
Thanks

Like random-strike said if your going for 300whp get the t3/t4. I would get a vtec head before the turbo kit though. I remember watching dustin's car on the dyno also and his b18a1 dropped right at 5000 rpms just like johnny's.

I never really considered doing a ls vtec engine but since im only sinking 240 bucks into the head it wont be much of a loss if i decided to go that route down the line.
The only concern i guess i would have is if i need to switch pistons to go with the vtec head. je's website shows different numbers for the b18a1 with stock head vs a vtec head.
Guess ill have to do some research and find out.

Well right now im in for around 2500 bucks and still have a long ways to go. One thing is for sure though, rebuilding a honda engine is by no means cheap. I figured id do it right though (aside from sleeving) and put a bit of cash in it.
I know i have read some bad and some good things about block guards. I will be putting mine in at the machine shop, gettting it welded in place then the block bored so there will be no distortion. I just couldnt afford the extra money to sleeve and thought i would try this out. The total project is probably going to cost me around 6000 dollars (canadian) I dont have the money to buy any turbo stuff yet so im just focusing on getting the b18 rebuilt and prepped for the future turbo. It will then be going in my 90 civic hatch and used for a while until i can get all the parts together for the turbo install.
