Suggestions for oil drain???
Hey I am having trouble with my oil drain. from where it sits it is almost horizontal with the point I need to tap.I was thinking that maybe if I used a 45deg. fitting coming off the turbo that it may solve the problem but does anyone have any other ideas? earls is expensive ---- so I don;t wanna buy something that might not work still.

Re:Suggestions for oil drain???
yeah I guess thats the only way. someone said that if I get 2 45deg.'s. One from the pan and one from the turbo, that it would work better but I don;t see that lining up at all because the fitting will be deep in the pan and it would have an S shape in the line.

Re:Suggestions for oil drain???
my turbo wasn't as big as yours but i put the 45 degree on the pan and put a straight one ont he turbo. Then i just scrapped the braided line for a rubber oil one that was more flexible.
you could always wrap the rubber one with that heat reflecitve foil stuff if your worried about melting.
i dotn have any good pictures for this problem but you can see where my drain was
you can see how curved the line is just sitting in this picture and the downpipe wasn't even on it this one
i'll see if i can find anymore pic on my fathers computer

Re:Suggestions for oil drain???
You're going to have to scrap any AN fittings on that drain. They're just too bulky. Run either a 45 off the turbo, or in extreme cases a 90, then run a straight barb into the pan. Check the oil level in the pan (imagine 3 quarts of oil in it) and find the lowest spot you can safely put the pan fitting.
It looks like by doing one or more of these things you will be fine. That doesn't look as bad as the hf/plate combo.

oh yeah I remeber your set up from 7thgen.yeah I think Im going to have to use the 45 deg. and then I'll see how that looks I have a earls fitting for the pan to jb weld in and I have a brass barb fitting so I'll try them both.
