Okay, i'm in northern wisconsin (54805 area)

this is going onto a 1986 iroc-z camaro w/ a 305 w/ tuned port injection.

chances are that i'll prolly use a pair of 14b turbos on this...

im thinking the t3s might blow my budget

man those chrysler t3s are cheap. hard part is find a matching pair in good condition, probably as much as a 14b setup.. look into it.

alright, i'll check into it...

i'd prefer something that'd spool really fast...e.g. by 2k rpm becuase like i said the redline is 5500 on that motor which is weeeeeeeeaaaak as ----.

I believe that a single t3 would work better for you on the 305 unit.Actually a twin chrysler t3 would create higher spool than 2500 so a single t3 would spool about 1800 to 2200 rpms.If you only going to 5k then it would work nicely. That motor i beleive has a roller cam/was the transition year of them using them.Look on ebay for the zz4 crate motor cam or get ahold of a cam grinder an have them regrind your cam.Cost only about 80 bucks an you can reuse the roller lifters.Looked at my nehboirs z28 an i think i would put it on the driver side behind the head lamp.just my idea at this point.

I really don't know much about roller cams, I have a pre-roller motor (missed it be like 2 years). So do you know the quick and easy way to run them? Will a regrind be absolutely necessary? I have an rv cam laying around for my 350, going to install it one of these days.. should I have it ground and install it instead? Oh yeah, the 350 in the k5 is going to stay N/A.. if anything I would buy another blazer for turbo.. but at that point I would just go with a nice cummins diesel motor and really have that torque.

If you got an rv cam use it its got good lobe profiles.I got solid roller lifters in mine an ther inexpensive campared to hyd.Y would yoou want a noisey diesel?

Research a stock 72 caddy 500 engine hp an torque specs. They put out as much as the cummings an An to install it would only take a 75 dollar trans adaptor.Looking to do that to my 91 suburban now tomake it a good tow rig.

91 suburban.. that means you have the same style body as me, just a couple extra doors. I only like the cummins diesel cause I drove a couple cummins disel trucks, a '96 and a '93 and I just thought they were fun. Main reason for diesel is so I can go "swimming" with the turck.. but I know that will only get me into trouble, I'm not going to get rid of the 350/700r4 that I just put in that thing within the past 3 years. I will have to look into the big caddy motors, are they fairly cheap?

So what all do I need to go with a roller lifter setup? Don't I have to bolt something in the lifter valley, like tap in some sort of metal hold down piece? I saw someone on ebay trying to sell the complete "DIY Kit" but I said ---- that. I need new lifters to go with my somewhat used rv cam so I figure it's worth the effort.. I just hate always having to replace my intake seals (again).

Also will I need one of those degree dials to replace the cam? I have done timing chains before without one and I was wondering if the uses were absolute.

thanks.

I got the diy from him just to see what else is needed for the install of the factory stuff.I have it all an i am just gonna use the aftermarket lifters .No degree wheel needed just install it straight up.Yes i here what your saying on the burb i just installed a upgraded 700r4 now im taking it out cuz it wont handle the 450ft lbs from the caddyin od
See i told you i got lots of projects going on in my head.LOL

you and me both. certain 4L60 trannies can hold whatever you can throw at them... ever hear of the raptor? That bitch is sick man, tow 8k pounds in overdrive. Your 700r4 should be in check since it's got all the updates from the 87-88+ years. My '86 one sucked, I burned it up in no time flat. I still think that you'll need a nice beefy TH400, I've heard of bigger ones in bread trucks, like TH475 maybe?

Hey if you got any info on the lifters then feel free to point me in the right direction or we can start a link. In no way was I going to buy that one guy running scams on ebay, I figure when I actually wanted to do it then I would find the info in a forum.. never expected it to be this forum

Did you notice the revs building up easier after you did it? I know the ZZ4 is a nice crate motor but I think I'd rather build my own like you and do it the way I want to.

Let me know man.
