Default staggered gap turbine piston ring- Where do I buy em?

I just slapped a rebuild kit on a t-bird t3 and I still get a tiny bit of smoke now and then, so im looking to try one of these out. Ive read turbonetics came out with them and ive seen that blast performance will install them. I would order from blasst but he's in canada and I dont want to have to deal with the shipping. I emailed turbonetics and they have yet to get back to me. So where have you guys ordered them from in the past?

TURBINE-END PISTON RING OIL LEAKAGE HAS PLAGUED THE TURBOCHARGER INDUSTRY SINCE DAY ONE. CONVENTIONAL PISTON RINGS UTILIZE A STANDARD RING-GAP CONFIGURATION FOR EASE OF MANUFACTURE AND INSTALLATlON - SUCH RINGS, BY DESIGN, LEAVE AN OPEN PATH THROUGH THE EX-POSED GAP FOR ANY OIL REACHING THE GAP TO PASS INTO THE TURBINE SECTION - RESULT? - SMOKE, RAW OIL LEAKAGE, OIL CONSUMPTION, MESSY OIL TRACKS, ETC.. THESE PROBLEMS ARE FURTHER AGGRAVATED BY TURBO INSTALLATIONS WITH MARGINAL OIL DRAIN PROVISIONS, HIGH TURBO LUBE OIL FLOW, LOW OIL VISCOSITY/HIGH OIL TEMPERATURES, excessive engine blow-by AND LOW-MOUNTED TURBOCHARGERS. THE "STAGGER GAP" PISTON RING COMPLETELY SEALS THE WHOLE PERIPHERY OF THE RINGLAND THANKS TO IT'S OVERLAPPING EXTREMITIES. AS A RESULT. CHANCES OF OIL LEAKAGE ARE MUCH REDUCED.

Blaast and deal with the shipping would be my first choice. Shipping from Canada isn't THAT awful. Other than that, you could try calling Gpopshop might be able to get them, you could call them: http://www.gpopshop.com/

I would be surprised if the gpopshop wouldnt be able to get them for you. Do you have any shaft play after the rebuild?

sharkytm:WHat do you mean by "dealing shipping??" WTF? I am located 30 minutes away from the usa border in NY. Shipping to the usa from here is NOT any more expensive, complicated or long than within the USA.
This "canadian shipping problems" thing is a myth.

G Pop turbos = chinese internals. I know: I had to RE-build many. It's just like rebuilding XSP turbos.

I dont think blaast will sell them seperate, but it never hurts to try.

Sure I can sell just the stagger gap ring but for me, it's just contributing to your failure.

I believe it can't be an home made install because a used rotating assembly, after disassembly, always needs rebalancing. It always does. .
But there's an even better reason: i wish it was as easy as blindly slapping new parts on a worn out turbo to make it good again but unfortunately, proper parts is only 10% of a proper rebuild. 90% is in the workmanship.
The width of the ring land on the shaft is very crtitical and it does wear out almost at the same rate as the ring itself. AFAIK, There's no oversized version of the stagger gap ring. So if your turbo leaks because of ring land wear, the stagger gap ring won't help. What you actually need is an oversized ring and re-machining of the ring land to fit. (and if you got that kind of shaft wear, you most probably need oversized bearings and machining of the CHRA AS WELL).

Sorry, I was just quoting his reluctance to deal with it. I've shipped tons of stuff to canada, and received quite a few items, and never had a problem. I was just telling him to go to you. :P

IIRC its turbos-r-us on ebay. They sell lots of turbo items from split-rings to 360-thrust bearing upgrades. I've got a few things from them, always fast shipping & great quality.
