spring wastegate

the actuator on my turbo was a 12psi one, and i didnt want to lengthen it and get crazy lag, so i used a spring. At full throttle i hit about 5 psi which is perfect, but at half throttle (when less exhaust is pushing against the spring, it hits about 8-9)....this sucks, and im going to the yard to get a 5psi actuator as soon as i can because im afraid im gonna blow my little d16y7 up (a/f says its rich but im not sure i trust it)

Ahhhhhhh the disadvantages of the old spring actuator......thats kinda scary seeing your motor pulling that kinda boost at half throttle. ;D

Re:spring wastegate

what i found out from the search is that LeBarons, 84-89 nissan 300zx, and 84-?? nissan 200sx have actuators set at 5-6.5 psi. now the hard part is finding out wich one will mount to a t-25 and which junkyard might have it.

hmmm
i think i want to go about 6-6.5 psi though. ive been reading that the D series engines can handle up to 7. how can i adjust it?

Re:spring wastegate

I had a thought on how to adjust the boost lower. Leave the wastegate actuator hooked up normally, then put a spring on the end of the arm pulling the wastegate open...this would be the same as replacing the spring in the actuator with a weaker one.
