So i got a power question...

Re: So i got a power question...
But how do we know the breaking point of a engine? I know one import magazine ( I think HCI) did several articles on a B16 and generated something like 450 hp to the crank on a factory block before one piston went. What they are trying to prove is that a B16 can handle ridiculous power levels if you eliminate detonation--which no engine can endure for long periods of time, no matter iron sleeves, forged pistons, rod or forged this or that. But my question is how long can your engine last making these insane power levels. Your engine might not break at the magic number of 300 hp for some time, but eventualy the laws of thermo-dynamics, physics and God are going to get to it because your little motor that could wasn't made to handle these crazy power numbers in stock trim for long. I've been boosting my b18c1 for 2 years now to the tune of 8 psi and everytime I push the crap out of the sucker I keep my fingers crossed because I know it's a matter of time before the cow's tit goes dry. But this is the choise I made 2 years ago when I sold my GS-R's soul to the boost devil. I don't regret it one bit!!!
