Re:a slightly different turbo application
hmm.. just noticed a potential problem. your car uses L-jetronic fuel injection, meaning you have an air flow meter (D-jetronic uses MAP sensor, for anyone who cares). the turbo has to pull in all its air through that sensor, which means you will likely max out the flow very quickly and at very low boost. this would basically lead to the ECU dumping fuel (read: zero fuel control even with an AFC) above the boost level that maxes out the sensor. that could very well be 2psi for all we know.
a couple options that may work: use a stiffer spring in the airflow meter. toyota/lexus generally use a "flapper door" style meter in which airflow opens the door against spring tension. the door is attached to a potentiometer and gives off a voltage reading that way. installing a stiffer spring would give you full door range motion (meaning there would be voltage variation up to whatever you plan as full boost). this would lean out your fueling and advance your ignition timing (works the same way as the AFC hack). you would have to tune based on this info. use an airlfow meter from a turbo car. it'll have the same "afc hack" effect on your timing. the supra AFM's may be able to handle it. standalone EMS. i don't know of any rom editors offhand for toyotas. this would allow you to eliminate the afm altogether and use a MAP sensor. either way, that airflow meter will likely give you a hard time tuning that an AFC alone will not fix. |
Re:a slightly different turbo application
A common upgrade for the 7M-GTE motors is to use stock 550's out of a TT and the SC400 AFM with a upgraded fuel pump. This fuel setup is good to 550hp

I believe Simple Digital Systems has a stand alone for this car.

Re:a slightly different turbo application
well bad news, it cant be done.the only way i could have it turboed is get a sponcer for it [yeah right, like thstll ever happen] So i am thinking about just selling it to get a honda or another car i can fix up. well thiss sux everyone, thanks for all the help i was given =)
i called the fabricator, and when i told him it was for an sc400 he laughed at me... so i kicked the can, the bad thing is it has been done before, http://www.mechtech-ms.com/html/turbo.html well, g'bye |
Re:a slightly different turbo application
You can do it man.
Get two nice turbo's will run you around $1000 for 2 new T3/T4's.....but yeah you are relying on someone else to weld the pipes etc... maybe if you measured and cut the pipes your self and he just only welds them together it should be cheaper |
