honestly i probably wouldnt ever get anywhere over 7-8psi, so maybe I should just stick with D16 rods.

stock d16 rods will handle 7-8psi off of a pretty good sized turbo without any shot peening at all. Pat runs 10-12psi on a t3 60 trim with stock rods and he is hard on his car.

IT is kinda like getting a rub down with millions of fingers.

Mostly it relaxes stress points caused in the manufacturing process. I shot-peen all of the manifolds I make it makes them less likely to crack due to heat stress and it also cleans them.

It is a big machine that tumbles the parts in fine grain shot like BB's.

Someone explained it to me once and said that it gave whatever material was being treated more surface areas by creating tiny peaks and valleys all over. Thus making it stronger. Like cutting holes in a metal support, more surface areas make it stronger. Some engineering principal of some sort. Any truth in this?
